1996 Governor's Vetos and Other Actions

This list is complete for both the 1996 General Session and the April 17, 1996 Special Session. The Governor did not veto any bills from the Special Session. Below is a list of the actions taken by the Governor after the 1996 General Session.

1996 Vetoed Bills

On March 19th, Governor Leavitt vetoed the following five bills.

HB 43 Cigarette Tax And Appropriation
HB 194 College Savings Incentive Program
SB 48 Land And Water Conservation Commission
SB 130 Early Retirement - Agency Participation
SB 246 Prohibiting Schools From Supporting Illegal Conduct

1996 Line Item Vetos

On March 19th, Governor Leavitt vetoed the indicated items of appropriations from the following bills. (The remainder of each bill becomes law.)

HB 302 Special Population Service - Health Care Provider Financial Assistance (Appropriation vetoed)
HB 400 Appropriations Act (Vetoed Item 73)
SB 250 Supplemental Appropriations Act (Vetoed Item 41)
SB 251 Appropriations for State Government (Vetoed Items 18,21,35,41,42,68,75,82,84,87,88)

1996 Without Signature

Governor Leavitt allowed the following bills to become law without his signature.
