              PERIOD OF SILENCE IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
              1996 GENERAL SESSION
              STATE OF UTAH
              Sponsor: Nora B. Stephens
          AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; PERMITTING PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO
          OBSERVE A PERIOD OF SILENCE EACH DAY.
          This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
          ENACTS:
          53A-11-12 , Utah Code Annotated 1953
          Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
              Section 1. Section 53A-11-12 is enacted to read:
              53A-11-12. Period of silence.
              A teacher may provide for the observance of a period of silence each school day in a public
          school.
