About the Utah Advance Reports

The Utah Advance Reports is a respected, authorized citable reporter of the decisions of the Utah Supreme Court and the Utah Court of Appeals. It has been published in hard copy since 1985. Every Judge and most law firms in the State of Utah have a subscription to the Utah Advance Reports.

Now the Utah Advance Reports is on the World Wide Web. At present, the Web edition includes cases back to Issue 186 (June of 1992). We will be adding more of the older cases soon. This electronic edition gives you access and ease of finding cases that can't be matched in a paper edition.

Citing to the Utah Advance Reports

The great thing about our two methods of presenting Utah appellate decisions, is that the cite is absolutely identical and interchangeable whether you find a case in the paper edition or the electronic edition. We show you in the electronic edition exactly where the hard copy page starts and ends, even if the paper copy hasn't been printed yet! Just cite the case as you would the paper edition the same way you are used to doing. You don't have to worry about a new citing method. Also, you don't have to worry about whether the judge can find the case you cite; every judge has a subscription to the Utah Advance Reports.

Update Schedule

The paper edition of the Utah Advance Reports is printed every two weeks and is current to just 2 business days when it is placed in the mail to you. Depending on the mail, you are never more than 18-21 days behind the Courts with the paper edition. With the Internet Edition, you will never be more than 2 business days behind the courts. Within 2 business days of the RELEASE of a Utah case, it will appear here in the very form and with the same cite as it will be printed in the next issue of the Utah Advance Reports.

Summaries of all Cases

For a quick review of the latest cases, we are including a summary of each case, just like those found in the front of the Advance Reports. With just a moment of your time, you can catch up on the newest cases without having to read through cases that do not affect your clients.
